Civics Update for January 27-31

We are now into the second semester and report cards are due to be distributed on Tuesday.

If you need to get a grade for Topic 6 Vocabulary, you need to see Mr. Zukowski on your own.  He will not ask you to check them.

Everyone got a Current Events schedule and paper last week.  There is no excuse for not having it done.





Monday:

  • Preamble
  • Current Events - Second half of the alphabet.  Grading Period 4, CE#1.
  • Finish 6.2 Notes from Friday
  • Reading Quiz (see below)
  • 6.2 Notes  on the Independent Agencies


  • Read pages 251 to 260 for Monday.  There will be a reading quiz and you will be quizzed on one of the following prompts on Monday:

    • What does GSA stand for and what are its functions?
    • What does the FDA stand for and what are its functions?
    • How does "To the victor belong the spoils of the enemy" apply to the patronage system?
    • How did a presidential assassination lead to the Pendleton Act?
    • What is the purpose of the Selective Service System?

    Tuesday:

    • Preamble
    • New PIPS paper - there will be a PIPS quiz on Friday.
    • Finish 6.3 notes from Monday
    • Assign a mini-project in which students will research a federal department or agency and its budget to report to the class.


    Wednesday:

    • Preamble
    • Video on Regulatory Agencies
    • research on department/agency project


    Thursday:

    • Preamble

    • Plickers Quiz on Topic 6 and PIPS
    • Presentations - you will be responsible for taking notes from student presentations

    Friday:

    • Preamble turn in
    • PIPS quiz
    • Presentations turn in and vote
    Open Packet test on Monday.  Be sure your packet is complete for Monday.
