Civics Update for September 9-13

A couple reminders:

• If you have not turned in your student handbook/AUP signature form, do so.  You are missing out on using the internet at school
• Current Events articles must originate from AllSides.com

Here is the agenda for the week:

Monday:

• Turn in Chapter 1 Vocabulary
• New Preamble Paper
• Current Events for the second half of the alphabet
• The Basics of Democracy (p. 27-32)

Tuesday:

• Preamble
• Chapter 1 Assessments -Criteria will be given to complete activities from pages 33-35.  This will be in lieu of a chapter test.
• Read pages 39 to 45 for Thursday

Wednesday:

• Preamble
• Discussion on the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks

Thursday:

• Preamble
• Hand out new Current Events papers for the next round
• Notes on the Origins of Political Ideals. 
• Read pages 46-54 for Friday.

Friday:

• Turn in Preambles (remember all Premable questions and responses must be completed for a grade)
• Start covering the topic of Independence which will eventually lead to the Constitution.
