Civics Update for the week of September 5-8

The tests and chapter packets have been graded from Friday.  Be sure to check LiveGrades to see if the grades were entered correctly.  Most of the point deductions for the chapter packets were due to lack of summaries written for each section.  Keep the study guides and vocabulary for each chapter.

Here is a look of what we are going to do this week:

Tuesday:

  • First of the alphabet will need to turn in their Current Events for the week.
  • New Total Recall questions for the week.
  • Chapter 2 study guide will be distributed.
  • We will revisit page 13 with the idea of eminent domain.
  • Read pages 27-29 and pages 32-36 for homework.  There will be a Reading Quiz on Tuesday on pages 32-36.



Wednesday:

  • Total Recall Question
  • You will have a Reading Quiz for pages 32-36.  You will be quizzed on one of questions below.  You will not be able to use notes or your book. 
  • Here are the possible questions:
    • What did Ben Franklin propose with the Albany Plan of Union?
    • Why were the colonists not happy with the Stamp Act?
    • What "Common Sense" did Thomas Paine propose in his 47-page pamphlet?
    • How did the individual state constitutions influence the writing of the U.S. Constitution?
  • Essential Question Notes 2-1:  What were the English Influences of American government?
  • Read pages 37-42 for Thursday


Thursday:

  • Total Recall Question 
  • You will have a Reading Quiz for pages 37-42.  You will be quizzed on one of the questions below.  You will not be able to use notes or your book. 
  • Here are the possible questions:

  • We will complete a thinking map of the founding U.S. documents.
  • Read pages 45-50 for Monday.
  • The second half of the alphabet will turn in Current Events on Monday.
